Omrane is a former house servant who has become a broker of young housemaids. He transports them from the poor desert village where he was born to the rich families in Tunis. On one of these trips, he takes little Feddha. Being overwhelmed by the harsh realities of life in the city, Feddha calms herself by molding dolls out of clay from home and then destroys them. At the same time, Omrane has to find Rebeh and bring her back to her family in the village as though she’s the most beautiful and vibrant of all his recruits, she has broken her leash and ran away.
